Barbara Goode

Barbara Joan Goode, 77, of Orrick, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2025. She was born August 15, 1947 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, to Charles B. Nance and Joan Emma Allen. High school sweethearts, Barbara and Donald Ray Goode were married on October 22, 1963. They had a wonderful 61 years together. They owned and operated Goode’s Service for over 47 years.

Barbara was preceded in death by both of her parents and Donald Ray Jr., an infant son.

She is survived by Donald Ray and three daughters, Donna Nelson (Greg) of Colorado Springs, CO, Denise Glasser (Mark) of Warrenton, VA, and Deana O’Dell. She had six grandchildren, Ariel (Zachary), Connor, Cooper, Taylor, Lexen, and Eilish, and one great granddaughter, Ava. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Nance, and two brothers, Bob Nance (Sally) and Bruce Nance (Deborah).

Barbara enjoyed spending her days with Donald Ray, exercise classes at the Excelsior Springs Community Center, walks along the Fishing River trail, and actively caring for Ava and any other children that needed her love. She loved all children and any she cared for were nurtured like her own. Her faith was strong and she was dedicated to the service of others. Barbara will be greatly missed by her family and anyone who has been blessed by her smile, laugh and kindness.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Union Baptist Church, rural Orrick, MO. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with services following at 12 p.m. Interment will be at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, MO.

Arrangements are in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
