Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Anderson

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Anderson, of Kearney, MO passed away at her home on February 16, 2025.

She was born in Easton, MO, on December 5, 1935 to Norman and Ethel Burton. Raised in Easton, she was the youngest of eight including five brothers and two sisters.

She married Wilbur “Andy” Anderson on July 22, 1955 and remained happily married until his passing in 2007. Betty and Andy had three sons, Michael, Craig, and Del. She worked for JC Penney for 45 years until the Covid pandemic prompted her to retire at the age of 85.

Betty is fondly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as a fun-loving companion and willing participant in any type of play or mischief. She was a great friend to her nieces whom she vacationed with, shopped with and frequently had lunch with. Her nieces organized a party for her 89th birthday on December 5, 2024 which all will now especially remember. She was also close to her nephew, Lloyd Budine and his family. Lloyd and his son, Shawn, were always willing to help Betty with fixing things around her house, which she very much appreciated.

Betty enjoyed making cookies and other desserts for her family and neighbors. Whenever a neighbor or family member visited her house, there was always a bag of favorite treats – Betty knew what everyone liked.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her seven siblings, brothers, Raymond Burton, Bill Burton, Harold Burton, Howard Burton and Gerald Burton, and sisters, Gladys Budine and Winifred Higdon.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Patty) of Breckenridge, CO, Craig (Allison) of Olathe, KS, and Del of Breckenridge, CO. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Erin Anderson Giebink of Minneapolis, MN, Madeline Anderson of Lenexa, KS, Jane Anderson Montgomery of Charleston, SC, and Claire Anderson of Ocala, FL, as well as two great-grandchildren, Charles and Maeve Giebink.

A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held April 19, 2025 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the family home, 1401 S. Prospect, Kearney.

Arrangements in care of Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
