Donald Dean McCallister, 91, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Cameron Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.
Don was born January 7, 1934, to Ray and Mae McCallister of Clear Springs, Missouri. He grew up in Willow Springs, Missouri, and after graduating high school there, he served in the United States Army stationed at Fort Hood military base in Texas. After military service, he moved to the Kansas City area where he met and married Annabelle Baker on July 4, 1964. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Don was employed by CPC International/National Starch in North Kansas City, Missouri, where he retired after 35 years.
A zest for country and bluegrass music, Don enjoyed singing and playing guitar with many good friends over the years. He also liked working on old cars and trucks in his spare time. A good man that was soft-spoken and easy to have a conversation with. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn Livingston; brother, Jim McCallister; and sons, Anthony Scott McCallister and Marty Dean McCallister.
He is survived by his wife, Annabelle; brother, Jerry McCallister; daughter, Debbie Monnig; son, Rocky Gray; grandchildren, Gary Ray Monnig, Amy Monnig, and Blake McCalister; eight great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Cremation in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
Celebration of Life will be held from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Lawson United Methodist Church, 504 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Lawson, MO 64062.
