Robert Ernest Austin

Robert Ernest Austin

Robert Ernest Austin, 68, of Rayville, Missouri, passed away surrounded by his family on February 25, 2025.

Born on March 17, 1956, to Ernest and LaVeta Jane Austin of Rayville, Robert “Bob” grew up with a strong sense of family and a tireless work ethic. He graduated from Lawson High School in 1974 and CMSU in 1978 then went on to spend his life devoted to his family and his work.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He and his wife, Sandra Austin, were married for 48 years. Together, they built a family filled with love and cherished memories. Bob’s legacy lives on through his children, Trent (Casey) Austin of Kearney and Amber (Matt) Jackson of Rayville; his grandchildren, Kylah (Brendan) Newcomer, Arissa Jackson, Cooper Jackson, Lane Austin, Ethan Austin, Gabriel Austin, Lucas Austin, Kelsey Arnold, Lincoln Curtis, and William Curtis; his great-granddaughter, Raelynn Newcomer; and his siblings, Barbara (Allen) Dale, Janice (Gary) Ogg, and Janet Outersky.

Bob was a man of deep faith which guided him through all of life’s challenges, providing him with strength and compassion. He was a hardworking man who dedicated much of his life to his family, working on the farm and at Ford Motor Company. Bob had a quiet strength that came from his faith. Above all, Bob valued the time spent with his loved ones, particularly during vacations and at the lake, where he made lasting memories and created bonds that will be cherished forever. His life was a testament to the importance of love, hard work, and the enduring power of faith.

Bob was a one-of-a-kind man whose presence will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Old Union Church. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., also at Old Union Church.

Arrangements are in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home Lawson Chapel.
