Larry Dee Warren, 80, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away June 3, 2025, at Liberty Hospital.
Mr. Warren was born July 7, 1944, in Kearney, Missouri.
Larry was raised on a farm; this is where he got his strong work ethic. He had different jobs throughout his teen years and in his adult life landed a job working for Melvin Key (Key Sheet Metal Heating and Cooling) as Larry learned the trade, he became very skilled at diagnosing issues in the heating and cooling units and making all his own duct work for new houses. He stayed working for Melvin, that he thought a lot of, respected, and became like family to him. He took over the business and owned the business for over 40 years.
He took great pride in his work very precise seamless work.
This would describe some of his personality; he was a patient, kind, and detail-oriented man in his work and life.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Warren, on April 5, 1974. Together they created a loving home, and they raised their three children Marcia, John, and Julie. He loved his family very much. Family was everything to both of them.
Larry had been a member of The Sons of the American Legion at the Clay Ray Vets club and was a Board of Directors member for many years. He enjoyed spending time there and became a big part of the club. He took care of the daily operations at the facility for many years and took great pride in that as well.
He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Shirley; father, David Burns Warren; mother, Jewell Young (Stoopes) and stepfather, Harold Young; two brothers, David Warren and Ernie Warren; and two sisters, Juanita Filley and Evelyn Clifford.
Survivors include daughters, Julie West (Brady) of Excelsior Springs and Marcia Schreier of Excelsior Springs; son, John Warren of Niagara Falls, NY; five grandkids, Amber Bohmann (Mitch), David Schreier Jr., Derek Greathouse, Emily West, and Matt Warren; six great grandkids, Jordan, Hunter, Weston, Denton, Elena, and Asher; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday June 6, 2025 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, MO. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. June 6, 2025 before service.
