Dennis Edward Long, 73, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away on September 15, 2025.
Dennis was born on February 24, 1952, in Kingsley, Iowa, to Lincoln Long (Julie) and Barbara (Long) Swanger. Dennis grew up in Logan, Iowa, and attended Logan-Magnolia High School.
Dennis built an extensive career in heavy construction, serving as a superintendent. Outside of work he loved boating, fishing, riding motorcycles, and raising cattle.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia K. (Holtzclaw) Long of Excelsior Springs, MO; his children, Jason Long (Stacy) of Gilman City, MO, and Kristina (Long) Busby (Roger) of Kearney, MO; and his grandchildren, Tyler Long (Destiny) of Lawson, MO, Sean Long of Gilman City, MO, and Bryson Busby of Kearney, MO; and great-grandchildren, Octavia Long and Bellamy Long. He is also survived by Gary Long (Margaret), Mark Long (Julie), Karen (Long) Leamer (Joe), David Long (Brandi); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral and visitation services will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
