Lois Jean (Thomas) Haney, 92, of Kearney, Mo., passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025. Lois was born to William and Iva Thomas on December 26, 1932 in Bogard, Missouri.
She graduated from Bogard high school in 1950 and later attended business college in Chillicothe, Mo. While traveling home by train, she met Arthur “Art” William Haney. They were married on October 17, 1954.
Lois was a long-term member at the First Christian Church. She was involved with the Annual Harvest Sale and many other community committees. Most of her career was in the accounts receivable department at Whitaker Cable in North Kansas City.
She enjoyed going to horse shows, reading, jigsaw puzzles, traveling, playing dominoes and was a fabulous cook. Baking was a favorite pastime. A football fan through and through. And until the very end, she loved watching all sports.
After Art’s retirement, winters were spent in Texas and eventually they became permanent residents. They moved back to Kearney in 2011.
Lois was proceeded in death by her husband, Art Haney; daughter, Deanna Haney; mother and father, Iva and William Thomas; and sister, Jane Ray Bartlett.
She is survived by daughter, Mindy Easter and Carl Cleavenger; grandson, Steven and Racilyn Davis; great granddaughter, Sofia Davis; and eight nieces.
The ceremony will be held at Fry-Bross & Spidle Chapel in Kearney on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and graveside service at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Kearney, Mo.
