June 23, 1940 – November 4, 2025

Joan Darline Raye, 85, recent resident of Plattsburg, Missouri, and former resident of Elyria and Columbus, Ohio, went to heaven peacefully on November 4, 2025. She was born in Frankfort, Kansas, on June 23, 1940, the daughter of Lafayette and Georgia (Osborne) Myers.

She grew up on a farm in Moberly, Missouri, with 10 brothers and sisters. She married Charles Allen Raye on November 24, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a very hard-working, generous and caring person. Joan worked 35 years in Retail and retired with TJ Maxx in Columbus, Ohio. She cherished and spoiled her many dogs and cats over the years. She loved cooking, baking, gardening and shopping. Her best weekends were spent watching Ohio State football and the Cleveland Indians. She also liked playing practical jokes, especially on her brother, Duke. She loved playing board games with her family and was up for a morning game of dominos with her husband, Chuck, or a game of Sequence to hold her title as “Sequence Queen”. Joan will be greatly missed by her children, family and friends.

She is survived by her sister, Lois Chism; her daughters, Kimberly Raye Miller (Steve) of Siler City, North Carolina,
Holly Raye Dean (Steve) of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Roxana Raye Kessler (Eric) of Lawson, Missouri; sons, David
Raye (Kayla) of Baroda, Michigan, and Barney Raye (Angela) of Columbus, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; her son, Steven Raye; parents; brothers, Art Myers, Robert
Myers, Leo Myers, Lewis Myers, Dale Myers, and John Myers; and sisters, Helen (Myers) Dodge and Thelma (Myers) Deahl.

A service will be held at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Missouri, on November 10, 2025. Visitation starts at 2:00 p.m. and services at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be next year in Ohio along with her husband, Chuck.
