Martha Jane Samuels

Martha Samuels

After a long, hard battle with cancer, Martha Jane Samuels went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2025, where she was surrounded by family and constant love. Martha was born on September 10, 1969 to George and Irene Marrant in Excelsior Springs, MO. She graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1987.

Martha married Steven “Bruno” Samuels on September 30, 1995. They celebrated 30 years of beautiful marriage and raised their children together. She devoted the majority of her life working for the United States Postal Services as a rural letter carrier and celebrated 30 years of employment in September 2025. She served as a Union Steward in Local as well as the State Offices. She loved to travel and was able to go all over the country representing fellow carriers as delegates at National Conventions.

As well as living in the Excelsior Springs and Richmond area, they also spent 8 years living in Branson. Martha had friends everywhere she went. To know her, is to love her. She often had one of the loudest laughs in the room, and with this family and friend group, that’s hard to do.

She loved all music, but most especially listening to her husband sing. Martha and Bruno spent a lot of time within the church where they worshiped together and gained many lifelong friends across the country. Martha enjoyed many years as a Sunday school teacher and living out her faith. So while we will miss her dearly, we also have great comfort in knowing that Martha is at peace, and was welcomed home to be with our Lord and Savior.

Martha is preceded in death by her father, George Marrant.

Martha is survived by husband, Steve Samuels of the home; children, Jake (Addie) Marrant of Lawson, MO, Ryan Marrant of Hill City, KS, Raven Winters of Portland, OR, and Ben Samuels of St Louis, MO; grandchildren, Desiray and Jacoby. She is also survived by her mother, Irene (Wayne) Souders; her twin brother, Matt (Debbie) Marrant; and little brother, Joe (Mendy) Marrant; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements and preparations have been handled by Bross and Spidle Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be Saturday at Orrick Christian Church from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the service and lunch to follow. There will be an additional service in Branson at a later date. Interment will be at a later date at Woodland Cemetery in Richmond, MO.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Steve Samuels to be distributed to MORLCA at 25823 Hwy YY, Concordia, MO 64020.

Our Sincere Condolences

We extend our condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers.
