Louis O. Dunlap

Louis O. Dunlap, age 80, of Holt, Missouri, passed away on November 28, 2025, at home with loved ones.

Lou was born on January 9, 1945, in St Louis, Missouri to Louis and Vida Dunlap. He graduated from Herculaneum High School in 1962. He began his career at McDonald Douglas Aircraft as Quality Control until they went on strike. He then started with Southwestern Bell as a lineman and worked his way up to an Area Manager. He retired in November 2001 after almost 33 years.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carl, and sister Lorain.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Laurie Dunlap, and children, Steve (Kristin) and Natasha (Drew). He was a beloved papa to Nico, Rory, Ian, Colin, Jaylee and Gracie. Lou is survived by his loving sister Sharon (Jay) and his brother Kenneth (Karen). Lou is also survived by many cherished in-laws, nephews and nieces.

Lou and his family enjoyed a variety of hobbies and activities together throughout his life. These included camping, Civil War Reenacting, traveling, Nascar races, and watching the Chiefs. He also loved attending his kids and grandkids sports and activities.

Lou was a proud Missouri Mason as was his father Louis, his older brother Carl, his son Steve and grandson Ian. Lou was Past Master at Lathrop Lodge #506 and member of the following appendant bodies – 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Saint Joseph, MO, Noble Ararat Shrine Kansas City.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 13, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Holt United Methodist Church. We want to invite everyone to dress casually and stay for a meal after to share memories and laughs to celebrate Lou.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Holt United Methodist Church, where he was a devoted member.
