Bonnie June Logan

Bonnie June Logan

1935-2026

With grief in our hearts and a treasure chest full of wonderful memories we say farewell to Bonnie June Logan. To some she was known as Junie, others June, later in life she chose Bonnie – to us she was mom. She was born in Lawson, Missouri on May 21, 1935, to Albert and Gladys (Wise) James and had one sister, Betty Atkins.

She had many stories of life growing up with her loving grandparents and many doting aunts close by and the inevitable laughter whenever they were together. Aspiring to be a journalist, her life after high school took a different path – she married her sweetheart, Dennis DuWayne Logan. Dennis had already joined the Coast Guard, stationed initially in New London, CT and eventually Staten Island, NY, and mom followed him. After an Honorable Discharge and the birth of their first child, they moved back home to Missouri.

For career opportunities, they eventually moved to Illinois, Tennessee and finally Oklahoma in 1970. After many years of raising her children, she explored job opportunities outside the home. One of her earliest and happiest was working in a department store office, where she met women who would become lifelong friends. They remarked they had so much fun they would show up to work even if they didn’t get paid. Later she worked as a medical transcriptionist eventually transitioning to remote work enabling her to help take care of a grandchild for a few years.

Bonnie had a passion for reading (which she passed on to her children), family history, collecting knickknacks and sweets. She enjoyed gardening and, along with dad, loved travel (another gift passed along to the kids). She and dad enjoyed the many cats they had over the years, many being strays that found a home with them. In the latter years, especially after Dennis’ death, Bonnie found comfort in their company – especially Beezy, the special one.

She loved her kids and was the one that kept everyone connected. She was always available in whatever way each one needed her – someone who was able to relate uniquely, making each one feel special and cared for. Later on, she continued to treasure her time with her four grandchildren throughout their seasons of life. Bonnie was sustained throughout her life by her faith. When she did not know what to do or how to help someone in any other way, she would say that she would pray for them. And she meant it. Even when worry would overwhelm her at times in her care for her family, she found peace in prayer and was an example of true, quiet faith in God.

Bonnie June Logan, 90 years old, died peacefully in her sleep on February 7, 2026, preceded in death by her sister, Betty Atkins, and her husband, Dennis Logan.

She is survived by her three children – Lori Byrd, Brett and Chris, as well as four grandchildren – Amy Griser, Megan Modglin, David Byrd and Gabriella Logan, and four great grand-children.
