
Ramona Jame Lusby, age 87, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on March 19, 1938, in Higbee, Missouri, to Raymond Alex Lusby and Nellie Mae Beacom. Ramona lived a long and full life rooted in faith, family, and simple joys.
Throughout her life, Ramona was devoted to her role as a homemaker, though she worked outside the home when needed.
Ramona found joy in music and was well known for her love of listening to songs that lifted her spirit. A woman of faith, she embraced her Christian beliefs with quiet strength. She also had a passion for collecting items that reflected her interests – carefully curating collections that brought beauty and meaning into her surroundings.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Carol Porter, Tammy Porter, and Mary Aguirre; sons, Ernest Johnson and Jody Hendrix; sisters, Linda Hughes, Rita Winn, and Marla Berndt; brothers, Ronnie Lusby and Philip Bowen; as well as 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Ramona was preceded in death by her daughter, Ronna Hawkins; son, Jackie Johnson; sisters, Serena Alexander, Vickie Perez, and Rayden Reichling; and brother, Charles Lusby.
Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched across generations. May her legacy bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO, followed by graveside services at Crown Hill Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Wayside Waifs.
