Randy Carpenter, 65, Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away March 19, 2026 at North Kansas City Hospital. Randy gave the gift of life as an organ donor.
Randy was born December 11, 1960 in St. Joseph, MO, to Cecil Ray “Zeke” and Joyce Carpenter.
Randy was a very hard worker spending most of his working life as a crane operator. He could often be found tinkering with anything and working on his Jeep.
He loved his children and family very much. Few were his words but wonderfully clear.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, (then) I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me” Jesus, carrying a lantern, is depicted knocking at a door with no handle on the outside. The door is overgrown with weeds, and the nails and hinges are rusted, implying that the door has never been opened. Randy took Jesus into his heart when he needed him the most and made the choice to look to the sky and open the door.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Ray Carpenter; his son, Austin Carpenter; his wife, Deborah Leann Carpenter; and partner of Aaron, James Capek.
He is survived by his mother, Granny Joyce Carpenter; his siblings, Roger and Melinda Carpenter, and Regina Carpenter; children, Christopher Carpenter, Misty Carpenter-Brash and husband, Rob, David Carpenter, Andrew and wife, Kristen Carpenter, and Aaron Carpenter; grandchildren, Lucianna Carpenter, Julian Nichols, Riley Nichols, Christian Brash, and Haley Brash. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He loved his children and family very much. Few were his words, but wonderfully clear. “Okay”
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO, with inurnment following at Crown Hill Cemetery.
