The world became a little quieter on April 25, 2026, when Judith “Judy” Catron, 85, passed away.
Born in Quincy, Illinois, to Henry and Jennie White, Judy grew up in Shawnee, Kansas, where the values of family, loyalty, and generosity first took root — values she carried with her throughout her entire life.
Judy married the love of her life, Kenneth Catron, and together they built a partnership that lasted 64 years. Their marriage was a testament to devotion and resilience, and their home was always filled with the warmth of family. Judy was the proud mother of four daughters and one son, Kenneth Jr., who passed at birth. Family was the center of her world. She was the kind of woman who would drop anything to make sure her loved ones had everything they needed — and then some. Her presence was steady, dependable, and full of love.
She eventually made her way to Excelsior Springs, Missouri, where she raised her children and later her grandchildren. Judy spent much of her adult life working at Excelsior Springs Hospital and Excelsior Village. In both places, she touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering work ethic. She formed friendships there that
lasted a lifetime, and her impact on the community will not be forgotten.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Jennie White; her husband, Kenneth Catron; her son, Kenneth Catron Jr.; her daughter, Jennifer Turner; and her grandson, Charles (Chas) Cone.
She is survived by her daughters, Christine (Dave) Harrison, Kenneta (Jim) Grisham, and Melissa (Jason) Cone, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward. To all who knew her, Judy was a special light — kind, warm, and deeply cherished. Her absence will be felt in countless ways.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at the old Kearney Firehouse on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. All are welcome to come share their memories, honor her legacy, and reminisce about the remarkable woman she was.
Arrangements are in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
