Debra Sue Dever

Debra Dever

It is with deep sadness that the family of Debra Sue Dever (nee Brammer) announces her passing on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Debra was born on May 6, 1961, in Hanover, Kansas, to Arlene Brammer (nee Moravek) and Lester Brammer. After working at Research Medical Center and then earning her Nursing degree from Park College, she devoted herself to her profession, spending many years caring for mothers and newborns as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Liberty Hospital. After earning her BSN from MidAmerica Nazarene University, she continued her calling in the recently established Fetal Health Center at Children’s Mercy Hospital, where she helped deliver some of the smallest and most fragile lives. Nursing was never just a profession to Debra, it was a reflection of her heart.

Above all else, Debra was devoted to her family. She found great joy in preparing family meals, hosting gatherings, and creating traditions that brought everyone together. Whether she was baking in the kitchen, cross-stitching, spending time by her pool, or simply enjoying time with her loved ones, Debra made ordinary moments meaningful.

She was deeply proud of her children and often spoke joyfully about their accomplishments, always eager to share how much they meant to her. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, always finding ways to make them feel deeply loved and supported.

Debra also had a special love for animals and shared her home with her cherished rescue pets, Rocco and Lola, who brought her comfort and companionship.

She is survived by her loving mother, Arlene Garcia; her devoted husband, Dwayne Dever; her daughters, Kimberlee Hennessy and Ashley Turner; her grandchildren, Dayna, Cadence, and Hudson; and her brothers, Mark Brammer and Roger Brammer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Brammer.

In accordance with Debra’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. The family will gather to orchestrate a date within the next few months to honor and celebrate her life. Details will be provided through social media.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Debra’s honor to kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) research: https://www.kidneycancer.org/donate/

Debra will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and the compassion she showed throughout her life and career. Her love and legacy will continue to live on in all who knew her.
