
Ann Kathryn McCarthy, née Henigan, passed away on June 11, 2026 after a brief hospital stay in Liberty, Missouri. She was 93 years of age.
Born October 27, 1932 to the late William and the late Margaret Henigan (Kanavy) in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she lived in New York, Connecticut, and Colorado before moving to Kearney, Missouri in 2005.
A devout catholic who volunteered for the Catholic Church, her faith was the center of her life and the source of community, including her wonderful friends in Kearney. She was a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis and devoted to the rosary. Ann loved children and dogs, liked lobster and cheesecake, and was partial to the occasional dram of Highland scotch.
In addition to her parents and sister, Jane, Ann is predeceased by her husband, Donald McCarthy, her eldest son, Donald Jr., and her daughter-in-law, Angela McCarthy.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynn and Clare, and Clare’s husband, Jefferson Ackor; three sons, Sean, Steve, and Bill; two grandsons, Brendan and Colin; and her brothers, Jack and Bob Gilroy.
Ann will be laid to rest with her husband in the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
