Terry Yannayon

Terry Wayne Yannayon, 79, of Kearney, MO, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at his home in Kearney. He was born October 11, 1946, to Charles H. Yannayon and Jessie F. Yannayon in Massillon, Ohio.

Terry was raised around the Massillon area and graduated from Tuslaw High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on June, 9, 1965 to April 30, 1969, and served in Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic and crew chief until he was honorably discharged in 1969. Following his military service, he moved to Kansas City, MO, and began working at TWA. He worked as an airline mechanic until he retired from American Airlines.

Terry enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, being outdoors, his stained glass artworks, cooking lasagna, and his music. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family was very important to him, and he could often be found helping his sons and daughters with their never-ending home projects. Terry was very proud of his military service and would often reminisce about his time spent in Vietnam.

On April 21, 2012, Terry was united in marriage to Patty Yannayon at Christian Church. They were married for fourteen years. Together, they enjoyed their dogs, Sassy Sue and Tucker. They spent many years enjoying one another’s company going on trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Niagara Falls, Florida, Colorado, and Grand Canyon and entertaining each other’s family in their home.

Terry is remembered by his wife, Patty; by his children, Terry Junior (Heather), Heather, Matt (Juanita), Jessica, Carla, and stepdaughter, Tracy (Mike); his grandchildren, Nathaniel, Rayna, Harley, Victoria, Joey, Max, Henry, Anna, Eric, Autumn, Courtney, Chloe, Ellie; step grandchildren, Haleigh and Lauren; as well as his great-grandchildren, Elijah, Elise, Alfred and Lewis.

Visitation is at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at First Christian Church, Kearney, MO, followed by service at 12:30 p.m.

Graveside Service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Liberty, MO, with military honors at 2:30 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
