John Mathew Farris

John Mathew Farris, 73 years old, from Kansas City, MO, passed way August 9, 2026 at his home in Lawson, MO.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Parnell (Andy) and Dorothy Farris; his granddaughter, Lexie; and his brother-in-law, Ray.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his siblings, Sharon, Diana and Paul; his children, Michelle (Jeremy), Melissa (Chris) and Michael (Krissy);  his grandchildren, Erica, Dylan (Lexi), Mariah (Brenden), Talyah (Nate), Hailee (Autumn), Gracie, Aubrie (Zach), Trevor (Kaley), Aidan, Wesley and Leah; his great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Noa, Everlee, Stella, Kenzlee and Colsen; and uncle to Jason and Joey (Whitney), Nick and Mila.

John worked for Maddox/Hayes Insulation for 31 years. If you knew him you loved him and he never met a stranger.  He cherished family above all else and he never missed anywhere a “Papa” could be.

Living his best life after his retirement with a social life most decades younger don’t have. Taco Tuesdays with lifelong friends from high school, Taco Thursdays again with lifelong friends. Saturday morning breakfast with his closet dearest friend Kevin and golf with his buddy Chuck any day the weather would allow and some days when they know they should have stayed home but bad golf is better than no golf. He also had monthy sibling nights out that he never missed.

He loved the Chiefs, LOVED the 80’s and if you knew him you definitely have heard some stories. He would find the oldest dog at a shelter and take that dog home and give it its best final days and way too many snacks but if you ask Sophie she’ll lie for him every time. After all, round is a shape. He was a hugger and never missed an opportunity to tell you that he loved you.

In his words “I don’t have bad days, I got a really good life”. May we all take a little bit of John’s zest for life and live each day like this.
