In Loving Memory of Chris Stone.
Charles Christopher Stone of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 53. He was born on July 14, 1973 at North Kansas City Hospital to Carolyn McMillan and late Lewis Stone.
Chris was a devoted father, son, brother and friend. Chris was a proud father of Zacary “Zac” and nothing meant more to him than being the devoted father he was and watching Zac grow.
Chris had a personality that was uniquely his own. He was a longtime employee of Musicians Friend of over 20+ years. Family was his first priority in life, often sacrificing for Zac and his mother Carloyn. Chris was a dedicated and loyal Kansas City sports fan. He regularly attended Chiefs, Royals, and Comets game with family over the past 30 years. He was a sports memorabilia collector of football cards with a focus on the Chiefs players over the past 50 years. Chris was a self-taught and accomplished guitarist with a love for the 80’s rock band Def Leppard. He recently started a new musical instrument adventure in learning to play keyboards, one could say music was his passion.
Chris is survived by his mother, Carolyn McMillan; his son, Zacary Stone; and brother, Tim Truster. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and co-workers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Stone, who passed away 2012.
Chris’s memory will live on through the people he loved, the laughter he shared, the stories that will continue to be told, and the countless moments that made him who he was. Though he is gone too soon, the love he gave his family will remain forever.
A Celebration of Life and location will be at a later date at which time family and friends are invited to come together to remember Chris, share stories, celebrate his life, and honor the memories he leaves behind.
