Ben “Bennie” Wierzbicki
Ben “Bennie” Wierzbicki, 73, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026. Bennie was born on October 6, 1952, in Excelsior Springs to Frank S. Wierzbicki Sr. and Norma (Brock) Wierzbicki. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1971 and went on to earn his degree from William Jewell College in 1975.
Bennie dedicated his early career to education and sports, teaching and coaching football and basketball in West Plains and Clinton, Missouri. He later served his community as the Parks and Recreation Director for both Richmond and Excelsior Springs before transitioning to a successful career in health insurance sales.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Bennie loved coaching and mentoring young athletes. He spent many seasons coaching his Rangers baseball team and the Excelsior Springs American Legion teams.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Darla Wierzbicki; his two sons, Zachary (Sara) Wierzbicki and Clayton (Andrea) Wierzbicki; and his four cherished grandsons, Wyatt, Benjamin, Ryan, and Noah. He also leaves behind his brother, Frank Wierzbicki Jr.; his sisters, Mary Ann (Kent) Spicer, Julie (Dennis) Lowry, and Stephanie Hum; along with many extended family members, former players, and friends.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Norma Wierzbicki, and his sister, Cassie Assel.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, MO. Funeral Service will be Friday, August 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home with burial at North New Garden Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.
