Lorraine Hilts (maiden name Cohen), a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2022, at age 92, at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home in Liberty, MO.<\/p>\nLorraine Hilts (maiden name Cohen), a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2022, at age 92, at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home in Liberty, MO.<\/p>\n
Lorraine was born on October 10, 1929, in Newark, NJ, to Irene and Robert Cohen.\u00a0 She graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School in Orange, NJ, in 1947.\u00a0 Upon graduating, she worked as a secretary for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Newark, NJ.\u00a0 She married Carl P. Hilts on October 26, 1957, and soon after moved to Kansas City, MO, before relocating to Liberty, MO, where she resided for the past 51 years.\u00a0 Lorraine was a member of St. James Catholic Church for many years where her husband, Carl, served as a Deacon until his death in November of 1989.\u00a0 She was a long-time volunteer at Liberty Hospital and even worked several years at The Treehouse within the hospital.\u00a0 Lorraine was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Alter Society, and the Over 50 Club at St. James.<\/p>\n
Lorraine truly lived a life of joy through simple pleasures.\u00a0 She loved nothing more than visiting and chatting with friends and her niece and nephew.\u00a0 Her warm smile and bright personality had the ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.<\/p>\n
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Carl; her parents, Irene and Robert Cohen; her sister, Barbara Mammon; and her great-nephew, Craig Mireau.<\/p>\n
She is survived by her niece, Cindy Mireau of North Carolina; her nephew, Joseph Mammon and his wife, Marianne of New Jersey.\u00a0 She is also survived by five great nephews and five great-great-nephews, as well as many close and loving friends, including the Epperson family who treated her as one of their own.<\/p>\n
Family, friends, and others whose lives Lorraine touched, are invited to St. James Church on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m.\u00a0 The burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Kansas City immediately after.<\/p>\n
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.<\/p>\n

\nMy running buddy, my partner in crime and my wonderful friend, I already miss you.
\nI was so blessed to be by your side on your last adventure. There is no doubt there was a wonderful celebration in heaven on Tuesday night.

We will always miss Lorraine\u2019s ever present smile, her kindness and her sense of humor. She accepted people as they were without judgement. She lived her faith and was a wonderful example to others.
\nThe Epperson family gatherings will not be the same without her in attendance.
