He was born and raised in Padukah, Kentucky to Carrie Kay and Ollie Damon Dukes. Don had two brothers and one sister.<\/p>\n<p>At the age of 21, Don joined the U.S. Army combat infantry.\u00a0 Don served his country as a medic in the Paratroopers. In his five years of service, he received two purple hearts and an honorable discharge when injured.<\/p>\n<p>Don wore many hats during his life, but most important was being a husband and father.\u00a0 He loved the outdoors: fishing, hunting, and even gardening.\u00a0 Don could almost always be found with one of his many \u201cbest friends\u201d at his feet; dog.<\/p>\n<p>Don is survived by his wife, Judy Kay.\u00a0 When Don and Judy were married a blended family was formed; children, Katie, Don II, Kathy, Jeff, and stepdaughters, Jerry Lou and Margo; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grands.<\/p>\n<p>Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Woodland Baptist Church, 11023 Hwy H, Liberty, MO, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, please make monetary donations to the Alzheimer&#8217;s Association in honor of Don E.
