Her parents were Harold and Evelyn (Henson) Wright.\u00a0 She graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia, MO, and studied at the University of Missouri and Dickinson Business College.\u00a0 On October 3, 1981 she was united in marriage to Bruce Smith.\u00a0 After their marriage they lived on the family farm in Holt where they made their home.<\/p>\n<p>Carolyn supported and participated in The American Cancer Society Relay for Life and was a friend of Bill.\u00a0 She loved all animals but especially dogs, horses and llamas.\u00a0 She was a great storyteller, an avid walker, a lover of music and sports cars.\u00a0 She was a member of the Arley Methodist Church and believer in Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p>Carolyn worked as the Outpatient Coordinator at Liberty Hospital and had her own housecleaning business.<\/p>\n<p>She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marilyn Wright; and grandson, Brandon Burgess.<\/p>\n<p>Carolyn is survived by her husband, Bruce; sons, Rob Burgess and Scott Burgess; stepson, Brian Smith (Cheryl); five grandchildren; sister-in-law, Paulette Taylor (Jon); two nieces, a nephew and many cherished friends.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, MO, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.<\/p>\n<p>Burial in Arley Church Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Memorial Contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society Relay for Life.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>My condolences, to all. She was a crazy and dear friend. Although distance had separated us by miles I will miss her. My love and sympathies for her family . My family has very fond memories of Carolyn and we will miss her warm smile. God will welcome her home.<br \/>\nJerrie Johnson-McNelly<\/p>\n<p>Since I was 15, Carolyn has been a very special person in my life! We\u2019ve been through the hills and valleys of the road of life. I loved being the mean old babysitter to Robbie and Scott, both have a special place in my heart! Though miles separated us, I will always cherish my sweet memories of our times together\u2026. I can still hear her laughter! One of my fondest memories was going to my dad\u2019s vet office to see her before I went to school, always having her breakfast of Pepsi and a Chocolate Hostess cupcake! I know she is and will continue to be missed! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you did to help me raise that baby girl.<br \/>\nI miss you terribly, and have for many years, I will do my best to support those that were so precious to you. I have Been so afraid to state the obvious because I miss you so much\u2026 rest in peace\u2026 you fought the fight with every ounce of your being\u2026 till we meet again\u2026.
