He fought a hard battle these past few months and finally took his last breaths holding hands, reminiscing, and praying. He was walked to the gates of heaven by his daughter and son-in-law where Jesus met him with open arms.<\/p>\n<p>Mac was born August 14, 1957 in Jamesport, Mo. He lived in Civil Bend before moving to Excelsior Springs, Mo. He attended and was baptized at Carnegie Baptist Church in St. Joseph, Mo., in his years spent with his mother Ruth and stepfather Junior Brown. He participated in ROTC and graduated from Benton High School in St. Joseph in 1975.\u00a0 He had multiple occupations in his younger years but \u201cretired\u201d after 28 years from Stone Container in Liberty, Mo.<\/p>\n<p>He leaves behind a very significant legacy. He lived life to the fullest. He was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to many.<\/p>\n<p>He always knew how to make people smile or laugh by telling a joke or story. May his love of music always carry a favorite blues or rock n\u2019 roll song in your heart, his love of the great outdoors lead you down many paths to the fishing holes where all the biggest catfish are caught, to the firing range where all the targets are hit. May his passion for mushroom hunting always take you to fields of morels and every time you travel down an old dirt road, hear a hot rod or a motorcycle know it\u2019s Mac sending you a sign from heaven.<\/p>\n<p>He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Lewis Canfield; mother, Ruth Marie Brown; stepfather, Junior Brown; and great nephew, Elijah Malachi Kemp.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors Include daughter, Jessica (Clint) Briant of Lawson, Mo., their children, Halen, Cole, Josie, Kyra, and Stone \u201cCowboy\u201d, bonus grands include David and Danyelle; daughter, Erika (Dillon) Ott of Kearney, Mo., their children Kameron, Karter, Elijah, Peyton and Piper; sister, Marsha (Pete) Gardner of Liberty, Mo., and their children, Bambi, Mindy, Courtney and Lesley; sister, Cindy (Terry) Carroll of Independence, Mo., and their children, Jennifer, Jessica, Christopher, Amanda and Tyler; along with many great nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>Memorial services will be Friday, June 7, 2024 at Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024. Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m., with service following at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The family would please request In lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or the food pantry at The Good Samaritan Center of Excelsior Springs.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>Mac was one of the kindest people I&#8217;ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.<br \/>\nMy sincerest of condolences to you all.<br \/>\nRest easy in the arms of Jesus my friend.<br \/>\nLori R Piercy (Robb)<\/p>\n<p>To all of MAC\u2019s family and loved ones, my heartfelt condolences to you all.
