Vickie Diane Wright, 65, of Orrick, MO, passed away at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Liberty Hospital. Vickie was born on November 16, 1960 to Elmer Lee Joiner, Jr., and Mary Jane Patton. Vickie was raised in and around the Kansas City area and attended school in Kansas City and Carrollton, MO.<\/p>\n

She was married on June 24, 1978 to Dean Allen Wright of Carrollton, and they had a daughter Deana Marie. In the early 1980\u2019s, she attended Cosmetology school at the Martinez School of Cosmetology in Excelsior Springs where she received a degree in cosmetology. She worked at many hair salons throughout her career. Vickie met Larry Thompson in October of 1998 during their 27 years together they lived in Lawson and Orrick. Vickie and Larry shared their love for dogs, raising several dogs together.<\/p>\n

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Paul Tipton; and one sister, Terri Lee Honn.<\/p>\n

Vickie is survived by Larry Thompson of the home; her daughter and son-in-law, Deana Marie and Carl Goetz of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Harry Tipton; her grandchildren, Stephen Lee Curley, Jr., Alloura Danen and Jesse Miller, Emberlynn Jane Stradford, Kateara Noelle Stevens, Ileigh Rain and Jake Windsor; and great granddaughter, Brittney Jo Windsor. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Bryan Ray Thompson and Heather Ann Hurshman; step-grandchildren, Dalton Holloway, Chelsea and Courtney Hurshman, and Nick Thompson; step-great grandchildren, Axavier Thompson, Emmalynn Leabo, Delilah Leabo, Mason Hurshman, Kayden Holloway, C. J. Holloway and Brylee Holloway. Vickie is also survived by her best and loving friends, Pamela Bowlin and Lisa Cook.<\/p>\n

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ray County Animal Control of Richmond, MO.<\/p>\n

Visitation for Vickie will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Orrick Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon at the South Point Cemetery near Orrick with Pastor Jacob Overstreet officiating.<\/p>\n

Services are under the direction of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, MO.<\/p>\n
