From an early age, he spent countless hours on a tractor, helping raise hogs and working alongside his parents farming land in Kearney and Holt. Those experiences shaped the hardworking man he would become.

Russell graduated from Kearney High School in 1981. He dedicated more than 30 years to the commercial waterproofing industry. He took tremendous pride in his work there and often shared stories of the many projects he helped complete, including restoration work at Arrowhead Stadium. Even after retiring from commercial waterproofing, Russell wasn’t ready to leave the industry he loved. He continued working with concrete, this time from the driver’s seat of a concrete truck, taking pride in contributing to projects from a new perspective.

Russell enjoyed spending time outdoors and with his family. He took great pride in growing a garden each year and loved sharing its harvest with family, friends, and neighbors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and Sunday barbecues with his family. Russell also loved being behind the wheel of his truck. Whether he was driving to job sites, navigating the city by memory without ever needing a map, taking the back roads, or heading out on a long trip with Regina pulling the camper, he simply enjoyed being on the road.

Russell shared 40 years of marriage with Regina Wood Stevens. They cared deeply for one another and shared a lifetime of memories together. Above all else, he loved his family and was proud of the life they built.

Russell is survived by his daughters, Maggie Stevens Kingman and Katie Stevens Maidment; his four grandsons, Jamison, Carter, Brady, and Carson; his sister, Sandy Stevens Reichert; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arnold Stevens (1990) and Wanda Ludean Henson Stevens (2026), and his brother, Jerry Stevens (2017). Russell will be laid to rest at Muddy Fork Cemetery, where generations of his family have been laid to rest before him.

A Celebration of Life honoring Russell will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tobacco Barn Farm in Holt, Missouri. 18503 MO-33, Holt, MO 64048. Family and friends are invited to come and go as they wish while sharing memories and celebrating Russell’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Muddy Fork Cemetery.

Russell’s legacy lives on in the memories shared on “Rusty’s Lane”, the gardens he lovingly tended, the roads he traveled, and the love he had for his family.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Arrangements are in care of Fry-Bross &
