While growing up, his friends knew him as \u201cEd\u201d or \u201cEddie.\u201d After graduating from Breckenridge High School, he attended William Jewell College where he played basketball for the college team.<\/p>\n<p>In 1954, Ralph married the love of his life, Nigel Anne Spidle. Together they built a loving marriage that spanned 72 years, raising their family and building countless memories. They moved to Lawrence, Kansas, where Ralph earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas. After graduating, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Following his military service, Ralph began a 37-year career with Western Electric, later AT&amp;T, in Lee\u2019s Summit, Missouri. Their family grew with the arrival of their son, Barrie, and daughter, Jeanene.<\/p>\n<p>Ralph lived a life centered on family, friends, and faith. He loved planning trips and adventures with family and friends that created memories that would last a lifetime. He especially enjoyed quail hunting, fishing at Lake Winnebago, and traveling. Ralph and Nigel also treasured the many evenings they spent gathering with their wide circle of friends. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ralph enjoyed competing in and following many different sports. Above all, he cherished every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Ralph was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church and, in more recent years, a member of First Presbyterian Church. He found great satisfaction in serving others through volunteer work with Lee\u2019s Summit Social Services and Meals on Wheels.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Doris (Yale) Druley, Jean (Biggie) Scanlon, and Helen Frances Hall; and his brother, Bill (Jaci) Hall.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his beloved wife, Nigel; his daughter, Jeanene Hall; his son, Barrie (Betsy) Hall; four grandchildren, Colten (Sabrina) Mehrer, Peyton (Dan) Sweeney, Connor Hall, and Reece (Caitlin) Hall; and three great-grandchildren, Declan Hall, Colby Sweeney, and Barron Mehrer.<\/p>\n<p>Services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church of Lee\u2019s Summit, 1625 O\u2019Brien Road, Lee\u2019s Summit, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Lee\u2019s Summit in Ralph\u2019s memory.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements are in care of\u00a0 Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>Just received the news of Ralph&#8217;s passing. So sorry to hear. My family knew Ralph and his family from an early age. Both of our relatives were from Breckenridge, Mo and knowing all the people in that area. He shared with me that my grandmother gave him a popcorn ball on Halloween! Those were the days!<br \/>\nWonderful guy&#8211;meeting him again during our LS Meals on Wheels days. Also knew he and Nigel in the Church and in the Lee&#8217;s Summit School District.<br \/>\nWell done, good and faithful servant.
