Brenda Ann Nielsen, age 56, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, after a prolonged illness.<\/p>\n

Born on June 26, 1970, in Omaha, Nebraska, she was the daughter of James and Barbara (Alice) Carver. Brenda graduated from Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills, California in 1988 and went on to dedicate over 20+ years of her life to helping others as a triage support specialist with Children\u2019s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. In 1990, she married her husband Timothy Nielsen II and together welcomed their cherished son, Kyle.<\/p>\n

Brenda was friendly, creative, and possessed an innate ability to engage with people effortlessly through lighthearted conversation. She had a deep love for music and frequently amazed her family with her incredible memory for song lyrics. Brenda also loved games of all kinds, whether playing in person with family, cheering on her favorite sports teams (Go Chiefs!), or watching television game shows\u2014several of which she surely would have won given the chance. True to her empathetic nature, she was a passionate animal lover who shared her home and heart with several beloved cats over the years.<\/p>\n

She is survived by her parents, James and Barbara Carver; her husband, Timothy Nielsen II; her son, Kyle Nielsen, and daughter-in-law, Samantha Nielsen; her parents-in-law, Timothy and Carol Nielsen; her sisters, Gina Carver and Leah Carver; her brother, Jordan Carver; her grandchildren, Jade and Zoey Nielsen; her nieces, Bri Lucia and Cora Frazier; her nephew, David Nielsen; and her brother-in-law, Jeffrey Nielsen.<\/p>\n

A celebration of life will be held privately by her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society or the Animal Humane Society in honor of Brenda’s memory.<\/p>\n

Arrangements are in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.<\/p>\n
