\"\"Charles David Swearingin Sr., 82, of Wood Heights, Mo., went to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 7, 2018.<\/p>\n

Charles was born October 19, 1935 in Ray County to Orbria and Eva Swearingin.<\/p>\n

Charles was a lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs, Mo.\u00a0 He was a kind, loving, compassionate man.\u00a0 His wife, children, grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews were his pride and joy.<\/p>\n

Charles was a carpenter by trade.\u00a0 He built lots of beautiful homes. He also worked at Cook\u2019s Paint.\u00a0 Charles and his family lived in Prathersville, Mo., from 1954-1975 where he served as a deputy in the 1960\u2019s.\u00a0 He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter. He joined the Prathersville Bible Church in 1952.\u00a0 He served as deacon, song leader, and youth leader.\u00a0 He loved his church family.<\/p>\n

Charles married his sweetheart, Joyce J. (Jones) Swearingin on October 25, 1953.\u00a0 They met while working at Louge & Short Drug Store.<\/p>\n

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a son-in-law.<\/p>\n

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joyce Swearingin of the home; daughter, Kathryn Wachter of Excelsior Springs; son, Charles and Marcy Swearingin Jr.; granddaughter, Brooke and Sterling Granger of Harrison, AR; grandson, Christopher Swearingin of Troy, MO; two brothers, Glenn and Carol Swearingin of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Earl and Cheryl Swearingin of Lawson, MO; sister, Betty and Dean Barton of Excelsior Springs; and sister-in-law, Wanda Kennedy of Mosby, MO.\u00a0 Charles also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family.<\/p>\n

Visitation for Charles will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.<\/p>\n

Donations in memory of Charles may be made to American Heart Association.<\/p>\n

I am a second cousin once removed. My great grandfather William Thomas Swearingin was a brother to John Swearingin the grandfather of Charles David Swearingin. I am sorry we never met. He surely was a very nice husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
