{"id":2972,"date":"2018-10-01T01:38:36","date_gmt":"2018-10-01T01:38:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/?p=2972"},"modified":"2018-10-12T21:36:55","modified_gmt":"2018-10-12T21:36:55","slug":"dan-alan-cates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/index.php\/2018\/10\/01\/dan-alan-cates\/","title":{"rendered":"Dan Alan Cates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2976 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/dan_cates.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"233\" \/>Dan Alan Cates, 79, of Kansas City, Mo., died, Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Garden Valley Healthcare Center and Nursing Home in Kansas City, Mo.<\/p>\n<p>Dan was born August 30, 1939 in Excelsior Springs, Mo., to Joseph C. and Lula Rachel (Boydston) Cates. He married Delores Gay Taylor on January 25, 1958.<\/p>\n<p>Dan was diesel mechanic for over 30 years and retired from Midwest Kenworth in Kansas City. Dan was a huge Missouri Tiger fan.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Delores G. Cates (Taylor); four brothers, Robert Cates, Lloyd Cates, Carl Cates and Kenneth Cates; and three sisters, Josephine Cates, Ruby Lana and Icel Skaggs (Isenhour).<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include one brother, Gene Cates; one daughter and three sons, Doris E. Farage (Cates), Donald W. Cates, Eddie L. Cates and Jody A. Cates-Collins; six grandsons, Chet, Chris, Stephen, Daniel and Nathan Farage, and Tyler Cates; and several great-grandchildren, all of the Kansas City area.<\/p>\n<p>The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer\u2019s Association (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alz.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.alz.org<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo., with the funeral immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Mo.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>Please accept my condolences for the loss of your father.
