Datha Marie (Buckner) Ogg was born February 10, 1938 in Kansas City, Mo., to Clarence and Ruby (Raveill) Buckner, and passed from this life on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Seasons Memory Care Facility in Lee\u2019s Summit, Mo., after a long battle with Alzheimer\u2019s Disease.<\/p>\n
Datha was a lifelong Kansas City and Independence Mo., resident who grew up in the Armco Steel area of 9th & Ewing and attended Northeast High School. Datha was raised by her father and his mother Lina, and had a very special, loving relationship with her Grandma Buckner. During her childhood, Datha lived 3 doors down from her future husband, Eldon Broyles. They married in the 1950\u2019s and completed their family with the birth of their two daughters, Terry and Gala. Datha was a hard worker who was employed outside the home in an era when that was rare. She was a proud member of the Bookbinders Union for over 30 years and retired from McGrew Color graphics in 1996.<\/p>\n
In 1976 Datha married Bernard “Butch” Ogg, who survives. She was a faithful and loving wife to Butch.<\/p>\n
She is also survived by her two daughters, Terry (David) Raasch of Blue Springs Mo., and Gala (Michael) Bauer of Leawood, Kans.; one grandson, Frank Treece; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She dearly loved and was always close to her siblings, Claude, Delilah May, Roy, Joanne, Earlene and Gene.<\/p>\n
Datha was fiercely devoted to friends and family and lived life on her terms. In her later years even as memory loss took a toll, she would often be heard reciting or singing a favorite song lyric: \u201cLive fast, love hard, die young and leave a beautiful memory.\u201d<\/p>\n
Datha\u2019s family would like to thank the Season\u2019s Memory Care facility for the care and keeping of Datha for over three years before her death.<\/p>\n
Due to COVID-19 health crisis, services will be held at a later date; cremation.<\/p>\n
Arrangements are in care of Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.<\/p>\n
Uncle Butch & Family: May your heart and soul find peace and comfort. Rest in heaven Datha, your love will remain in the hearts of friends & family as they remember what a loving person you were. Fly free from all pain!

Datha was a Angel, she was always pleasant and sweet. She enjoyed her family and our staff. My prayers are with her wonderful family in the time. She is now in Heaven and feeling no pain. She will smile down on all of us until it will be our time to be with her. She will never be forgotten.

Down to the pathways of love<\/em> As you follow your pathways from beginning to always be grateful for family and friends. Datha was always a wonderful lady, full of fun and life.\u00a0 She always made me laugh.\u00a0 We enjoyed many lunches together, shopping, chats, and just being neighbors.\u00a0 She made me feel so very welcome when I first moved to Independence.\u00a0 She loved her dog, “Angel” and now she is an angel.\u00a0 She will be missed, but she will not be forgotten. My deepest sympathy and condolences for your loss. I remember the good times we used to spend at the cul-de-sac lagging with Butch, Bill, Judie, and Barbara.

\nWe walked beside her down endless paths sharing the light along the way and into the night the darkness stayed

\nAnother path yet darker still soon our memories will light are way will we find mom another day we did, did but darkness came still through the darkness there was a flicker light but as it quickly burned away we knew that Datha had gone away and led with love of family and friends<\/p>\n
