{"id":6621,"date":"2020-06-24T19:18:17","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T19:18:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/?p=6621"},"modified":"2024-07-26T22:25:54","modified_gmt":"2024-07-26T22:25:54","slug":"billie-gene-routh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/index.php\/2020\/06\/24\/billie-gene-routh\/","title":{"rendered":"Billie Gene Routh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6624 alignright\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/billie_routh.jpg\" alt=\"Billie Gene Routh\" width=\"260\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/billie_routh.jpg 260w, https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/billie_routh-175x300.jpg 175w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 260px) 100vw, 260px\" \/>6\/12\/1927 ~ 6\/24\/2020<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bill passed peacefully on June 24, 2020 at the age of 93 after a brief battle with acute myeloid leukemia, while surrounded by his loving family.<\/p>\n<p>He leaves behind his wife, Rosa Lee; four children, Cheryle Stephan and husband Greg, Ronald Routh, Michael Routh, and Debbi LeGros and husband David. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three siblings, Dorothy Haling, Joyce Gillespie and Jerry Routh.<\/p>\n<p>Bill was born in Cedar County, Mo., to Raymond and Marie Routh on June 12, 1927. He was the first of eight children born in this union. He and his beloved wife, Rosa Lee, celebrated their 70<sup>th<\/sup> wedding anniversary September 24, 2019. They lived in Lee\u2019s Summit, Mo., for the last 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Raymond Junior Routh, Roy Charles &#8220;RC&#8221; Routh, Shirley Davis and Sue Henry; his daughter-in-law, Terri Routh; and grand-daughter, Rebecca Stephan.<\/p>\n<p>Bill often referred to himself as a simple man who lived a simple life. He loved to share stories from his life experiences and his memory was amazingly sharp up to the very end.<\/p>\n<p>As a young family man he instilled his love of traveling and discovering the great outdoors of America to his family by taking them on numerous vacations of which he continued that tradition with his grandchildren. \u00a0When Bill retired from American Can Company after 40 plus years he spent his new found freedom fishing for crappie, bowling, playing golf and continued traveling.\u00a0 To help occupy the hours of the day Bill volunteered as a marshal at Shamrock Hills Golf Course in Lee\u2019s Summit, Mo.<\/p>\n<p>Per his wish, he was cremated.\u00a0 A Memorial Service will be held at a later date still to be determined.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bill will be certainly missed by all who knew him!<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>My thoughts and prayers to the family.<br \/>\nJoanne<\/p>\n<p>Thinking of you all!<br \/>\nCindy Rider<\/p>\n<p>My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.\u00a0 Charlene Baskett Brunner, 1969 NKC High School Grad.<br \/>\nCharlene G Brunner<\/p>\n<p>To Rosa Lee and family,<br \/>\nWe were sorry to learn your beloved husband and father\/grandfather had passed away.<br \/>\nWe are soo thankful he lived a long life and enjoyed a long retirement to do those activities he so enjoyed while loving Rosa Lee and his family!<br \/>\nKB and Anita<\/p>\n<p>Thinking of U and the Family.
