She\u00a0graduated from\u00a0UMKC in May of 1984 with a master\u2019s degree in administrative justice.<\/p>\n<p>Dorothy\u00a0worked as a probation officer prior to joining the Collections Department at <em>The Kansas City Star<\/em> where she continued to work until she retired.<\/p>\n<p>Dorothy\u00a0is survived by\u00a0five children, Peggy Miller of Nebraska, Beverly Edwards (Frank) of Smithville, Mo., David Miller of Kansas City, Mo., Debbie Miller (Rick Webb) of Kansas City, Mo., and Gary Miller (Kathy) of Blue Springs, Mo., 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and other family and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Dorothy\u00a0is preceded in death by\u00a0her son, James Miller, and her husband, Carl Paxton.<\/p>\n<p>A memorial service will be held at\u00a012:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017\u00a0at\u00a0Tri-City Baptist Church, 430 NE Duncan Rd., Blue Springs, MO.
