On Wednesday, September 30, 2020, Ronnie Lee Ragan, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 78 in his home.<\/p>\nOn Wednesday, September 30, 2020, Ronnie Lee Ragan, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 78 in his home.<\/p>\n
He was born on June 18, 1942 in Joplin, Mo., to Raynous S. and Alma Jean Ragan. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1960 and married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Ann (Whisner) Ragan on July 8, 1962. They raised two beautiful daughters, Melissa Leanne and Michele Elaine.<\/p>\n
Ronnie was the proud grandfather of one grandson, Kandyn Dean, whom he adored. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, golf and especially fishing. He was a high school boys baseball coach and junior high girls softball coach for the Kearney-Holt Recreation Association for several years and loved every second he spent with the players, including his daughter Melissa. He was the treasurer of the Holt Saddle Club for many years while cheering on his daughter, Michele, as she performed in horse shows. \u00a0He recently retired as a Control Center Operator for Clay County Sheriff\u2019s Department.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann of the home; daughter, Melissa Thomas of Kearney; daughter, Michele Hotsenpiller of Sedalia; grandson, Kandyn Hotsenpiller of Sedalia; two sons-in-law, Michael Thomas and Bronc Hotsenpiller; and several nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.<\/p>\n
He will be in state from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Chapel with graveside rites and interment at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kearney, Mo.<\/p>\n
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family through the Funeral Chapel.<\/p>\n
