Lee Simpson, 61, also referred to as Cowboy by his wife, was picked up by a posse of angels and taken to Heaven on January 29, 2021. Lee was born the son of Yvonne (Gregory) and Guss Simpson Jr. on October 14, 1959 in Anderson, Indiana. (Lee was met at the Pearly Gates by his dad, Guss Simpson Jr.)<\/p>\n
Lee was a graduate of Alexandria Monroe High School in 1978. Lee moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1980 and then to Olathe, Kansas in 1981 where he met his wife, Mim, and they were married just six weeks later. Lee began his career with Kansas City Power and Light (KCPL) where he became a Journeyman Lineman and attained his Associates Degree. He worked faithfully with KCPL for nearly 30 years until June 2017 when he retired. Throughout his career, he worked with the International Lineman Rodeo until his final rodeo in October 2019.<\/p>\n
Lee and Mim have three children, Jessie Simpson (Matt Gleason, Tara Lea, and Sammy), Jeremy Simpson (Camden “Camo”, Emma, Autumn, Reace, and Rook) and Chris “Bubb” Bryan (Layla, Colton, and Lexie). Lee has two siblings, Deborah Wright (Larry, Mark, Mykel and Christopher) and Scott Simpson (Andrea, Chelsay (Kaiden), Janet Lee, and Savannah).<\/p>\n
Lee was always up for an adventure, he loved playing sports, hunting and fishing, jumping out of airplanes, flying airplanes, riding bareback in rodeo competitions, and so much more. Lee loved watching NASCAR and the great outdoors was his little slice of Heaven on Earth. But, his greatest adventure and love was his family.<\/p>\n
Lee\u2019s legacy is one that will never be forgotten. He will be remembered for his unconditional love for God and his family, his witty comebacks, his jokes, his laugh that got the whole room laughing and his genuine love for life.<\/p>\n
Lee\u2019s Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Bross & Spidle Chapels in Kearney, Missouri\u00a0on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. A viewing will be open for friends\u00a0from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Graveside service to follow\u00a0at 1:00 p.m.\u00a0to Fairview Cemetery, Kearney, Missouri.<\/p>\n
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude\u2019s Hospital, as Lee was passionate about this cause.<\/p>\n
So so sorry Mim but you two will be back together in Heaven someday. Lee will be waiting on you with open arms and showing you all over Paradise!!

Lee had a full life, brimming with laughter and love. And you married him after only 6 weeks? Guess you knew he was a good guy when you met him. I\u2019ll always remember how he watched me until I reached my car when Transitions was at the church in NKC. Nobody was going down on his watch. Your love story will live on through your children and grandchildren. I feel so fortunate to have known him and seen you two together.

Mim, sorry to hear about Lee. He was the best person I have known in my life. We spent a lot of time in the Operation Center at KCPL and having him there was a pleasure and boy did we have fun. I will always remember our Z-Man lunches and will miss him. I wish I could be there for the memorial but I will say a prayer for him. He was a great man and friend.
