He spent his life working for the railroad and was dedicated to rail safety, even co-authoring safety rules and teaching safety to new employees, and was one of the first licensed to teach remote control engines. He shared a lifelong love of motorcycle riding with his son. He loved the outdoors in any mode: motorcycles, bicycles, boating, just being outside. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.<\/p>\n<p>He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Haney and Patricia Watson, and his son, Clayton Haney.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife, Toni Haney; his daughter, Alexis Haney; his sisters, Cheryl Clark and Shelly Sanders; and many nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>A great hole has been left in all of our hearts but we are happy that Greg is reunited with his son in heaven.<\/p>\n<p>A memorial service will be held at Fry-Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney on June 3, 2021 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be refreshments following at the Old Firehouse in Kearney.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>Great Boss<br \/>\nGreat Person<br \/>\nGreat Friend to many<br \/>\nMr. Dan Coleman<\/p>\n<p>Greg will be sorely missed by our KCS family.\u00a0 What an amazing man to call a friend and co-worker!!\u00a0 \u00a0Greg was very well liked and respected.\u00a0 Fly high Greg, we sure miss you and feel a huge void already.<br \/>\nAmanda Montgomery<\/p>\n<p>Greg was a true professional who took pride in his vocation. It was a pleasure to call him \u201cboss.\u201d<br \/>\nRuss Fletcher<\/p>\n<p>Greg was very smart, competent, and had lots of knowledge of railroading.\u00a0 He was very friendly and likable.\u00a0 I wish he could have had a long life.<br \/>\nBryce Kresie<\/p>\n<p>Greg was an exceptional mentor who led by example, and listened as a friend.\u00a0 Greg&#8217;s sense of humor and respectful demeanor made others want to be around him.\u00a0 I am grateful to have known and learned from him.\u00a0 My heart goes out to your family, friend.<br \/>\nDustin Frederickson<\/p>\n<p>Greg was an exceptional mentor who led by example, and listened as a friend.\u00a0 Greg&#8217;s sense of humor and respectful demeanor made others want to be around him.\u00a0 I am grateful to have known and learned from him.\u00a0 My heart goes out to your family, friend.<br \/>\nDustin Frederickson<\/p>\n<p>My heart is truly broken for the loss of this wonderful man.\u00a0 I met Greg the years I worked with KCS railroad.\u00a0 He and I first hit it off and became good friends, when we had time to talk, and share stories of our families.\u00a0 Always seeing him smile even when times were hard.\u00a0 He loved a good joke and seemed to enjoy initiating jokes when the moment called.\u00a0 After I left KCS he and I found time to sit down and have a Breakfast get together to share what was going on in our lives and the world.\u00a0 When my beloved wife passed late December 2017, he was one of the first to reach out to me, when some of my own family failed to do so, he was more than a brother.\u00a0 We recently communicated, I informed him I was returning to Kansas City for a few days and were planning a sit down again, I was so looking forward to seeing my Friend and Little Brother.<br \/>\nTo Greg&#8217;s family, he Loved and Bragged about you everyday, you could see his Love in his eyes for each of you when he spoke.\u00a0 I am so sorry, know that I will NEVER forget Greg and he is at the TOP of the list for being a Great Human and most of all&#8230;MY DEAR FRIEND.\u00a0 RIP Greg. \ud83d\ude41<br \/>\nHarold Spears &#8220;Chuck&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>My sincere condolences to you and your family, I&#8217;m so sorry for your loss.<br \/>\nCarmen<\/p>\n<p>Greg always seemed to look at everyone and everything non judgmental. I have known him the greater part of my life. He was a brother in law and a great friend.. we grew up and raised our families together. He\u2019d be surprised to know how much I admired his strength and integrity because we mainly communicated through jokes and sarcasm. He was one of the good ones and I loved the visits we had at work on the KCS. Greg always had time for you and never made you feel as though you were putting him out.
