{"id":971,"date":"2017-09-09T21:29:16","date_gmt":"2017-09-09T21:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/?p=971"},"modified":"2024-07-26T19:47:09","modified_gmt":"2024-07-26T19:47:09","slug":"mary-jane-hays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/index.php\/2017\/09\/09\/mary-jane-hays\/","title":{"rendered":"Mary Jane Hays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-972 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/m_hays.jpg\" alt=\"Mary Jane Hays\" width=\"220\" height=\"331\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/m_hays.jpg 220w, https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/m_hays-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/>Mary Jane Hays, 91, of Kearney, Mo., passed away\u00a0peacefully on\u00a0September 9, 2017. \u00a0 Mary was born on September 28, 1925 to\u00a0Clannie\u00a0and Faye Yardley of Milan, Mo. \u00a0Mary grew up near Milan, Mo., and told many\u00a0childhood\u00a0stories of riding her horse or walking for miles in the snow to get to\u00a0school, playing with nearby cousins, and\u00a0other\u00a0trials and joys of living in the country.\u00a0In 1942, Mary married Leonard Hays of Green City, Mo., and\u00a0they\u00a0were married for 70\u00a0years until his death.\u00a0Mary and Leonard raised three sons and enjoyed five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>After moving to\u00a0Claycomo, Mo., Mary had several jobs including her final job as a manager of Long\u2019s Restaurant in Liberty, Mo. \u00a0She was always proud to\u00a0bring in her grandchildren\u00a0to the restaurant\u00a0and show them off to all of the customers. \u00a0Mary\u00a0also participated as a volunteer\u00a0with the Platte Clay organization\u00a0and\u00a0was active in\u00a0the OATS program once she was a Kearney resident.<\/p>\n<p>Mary\u00a0enjoyed many activities including quilting, crocheting, sewing and gardening. \u00a0She\u00a0loved to play cards, especially the game of Pitch\u00a0and would play for hours with family and friends. \u00a0Mary loved to travel and would adventure anywhere she could find a friend\u00a0or family member\u00a0to\u00a0accompany her.\u00a0\u00a0Mary\u00a0loved her\u00a0home in Kearney\u00a0which\u00a0brought her great joy\u00a0until the end of her life and was the favorite gathering place for family and friends\u00a0to enjoy the holidays, barbeques, and lazy summer days.\u00a0Mary\u2019s greatest love\u00a0of all\u00a0was her family. \u00a0Everything in her life revolved around her sons and their families. \u00a0She never missed a birthday, graduation\u00a0or any important family event and she would do\u00a0anything for her family.<\/p>\n<p>Mary is survived by her three sons, Gerald Hays and wife, Nancy of Kearney, Mo., Jim Hays and wife, Caroline of Urbana, Mo., and Gary Hays and wife, Linda of Parkville, Mo. \u00a0She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Michelle Fine and husband, Jay, Cheryl Lowden and husband, Alan, Cody Hays and wife, Amanda, Jarred Hays, and Jenna Hays. \u00a0Mary was blessed with her great grandchildren, Carley\u00a0Fine, Cole Fine, Taylor Fine, Jack Lowden and Katie Lowden. \u00a0Mary also leaves behind four step grandchildren and their families, Stacy Miller, Devon Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, and Megan Brame.<\/p>\n<p>A special thanks to all of the family and caregivers who gave her comfort in her final days.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be held\u00a0at Fry-Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home, 208 S. Jefferson Street, Kearney, Mo., on Friday, September 15, 2017. Following visitation, a graveside service will take place at Mount Olivet\u00a0Cemetary, Kearney, Mo.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-bottom-right\"><a
