Anita Downing
Anita Glea Downing, 87, Liberty, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at Liberty Hospital after a short illness. Ms. Downing was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Great Falls, Mont., the daughter of Glenn Hall and Julia Bullock. They lived on Sanibel Island, Fla., and in Kansas City, Mo., before moving to Liberty in 1934. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1939. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Glen A. “Bud” Hall; and her husbands, William Nelson Thomas (1945) and Walter William Downing (1964). Survivors include a daughter, Linda Downing Jennings and husband, Greg, Liberty; her sister, Marianna Mustion; and other relatives. Visitation was set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Liberty United Methodist Church, with memorial to follow at 11 a.m. Burial in Fairview Cemetery in Liberty. Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
