Aline H. Reed
Aline H. Reed, 75, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Friday, March 6, 2015.
Aline, was born September 28, 1939 in Jarny, France (just 27 days after the start of World War II in Europe). She was the daughter of Felix and Marie Jurkiewicz. At 16 years old, she won a beauty pageant in her hometown and was crowned “Miss Jarny.” After high school, she attended beauty school. Later, she worked in a hospital in Briey, France, as a nurse’s aid. However, it was her decision to go to work at the U.S. Army Base in Étain, France, that would eventually result in her move here to America.
Aline, enjoyed tending to her home garden and watching the wildlife from her back deck. She also liked to entertain her friends with coffee and conversation. Most importantly, Aline, was a generous and loving person, in both demeanor, and action. In fact, to say that she was a generous and loving person is quite the undersized report of her, especially, when attached, to the large scale of good and thoughtful deeds, she often served up to her family and friends.
Aline, is survived by her husband, Donald Reed of 34 years; her children, Lance Ford, Michael Reed, Dorinda Ford, Viviane Ford, and Veronique Ford; her sisters, Jeanine Brion, Jacqueline Hof, Nicole Antczak; and her brother, Jean Jurkiewicz. She also leaves behind a myriad of grandchildren, Elsie, Nicole, Jordan, Cassie, Chase, Olivia, Erica, Brian, Jimmy, Christopher, Jacob, Caleb, Nikki, Jared, and Katrina; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Lauren, Matthew, Madilynn, Dennis, Dalton, Danton, Amani, Johnny Joe, and Victoria; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and her sister, Irene.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, also at the funeral home.
