Robert H. "Biker Bob" Belland

Robert H. “Biker Bob” Belland, 86, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away November 15, 2014 at his home.

Bob was born March 3, 1928 to Hector and Dovie Belland in Kansas City, Kans. Robert was a police patrolman/detective for the Kansas City Missouri Police Department from 1956 to 1965. He later worked as a Juvenile Officer in Cass and Johnson County from 1976 to 1982. After moving to Excelsior Springs he was the head of security at the Excelsior Springs Job Corps. Bob later opened Tri-Sports Bike Shop in Excelsior Springs. During the winter months, Bob would substitute teach where he was given the nickname “Biker Bob” by one of his students. You could also see Bob on the sidelines, running flags for the Excelsior Springs High School football team back in the 1990’s.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Rita Gilman.

Survivors include his wife, Sherri of the home; sons, Robert and wife, Pamela, and Steve and wife, Ranee; step son, Tim and wife, Meg Smelcer; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Woods Memorial Christian Church, followed by burial at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Excelsior Springs American Legion Post 236 to help with the Halloween party or Woods Memorial Christian Church.
