Bette Kent
Bette J. Kent, 84, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away April 2, 2013 at Excelsior Springs Medical Center. Bette was the wife of Gene Kent, who passed away in July 2011. They had been married 62 wonderful years.
Bette was born January 20, 1929 the daughter of Birch and Kathryn (Weyland) Arnold in Oklahoma City, Okla. Bette worked at Excelsior Springs Savings and Loan for 17 years and later retired from Missouri Power and Light, where she was a billing clerk. Bette and Gene were proud members of the Excelsior Springs community for 59 years. Everyone knew and loved Bette. She was full of life and greeted everyone with a smile. Bette was an active member of the Excelsior Springs United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Submarine Veteran Women’s Club, and the Friday Night "Good Times Gang."
Bette is survived by daughter, Marty Kent Dauer of St. Louis, Mo.; granddaughter, Jillian and husband, Chris Hartman of Venice, Calif.; grandson, Gabriel Dauer of West Hollywood, Calif.; sister-in-law, Dorothy and Lloyd Cook of Booneville, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister.
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 with visitation from 11 to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at Excelsior Springs United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Excelsior Springs United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
