James Billy "Bill" McAnally
James Billy “Bill” McAnally, 75, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 13, 2014.
Bill was born in Baldwyn, Miss., on March 6, 1938 to Willy Edward and Lillie Mae McAnally.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a self-taught musician who shared his gift for music by playing piano and singing in many well-known venues in Kansas City for 30+ years. He was also a successful businessman who formerly owned the Fun House Pizza and Allied Motors in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carrol, and children, Melinda O’Brien of Allen, Texas, Carla and Rob Alexander of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Keith and Melanie McAnally of Batesville, Ark., Clifford and Julie McAnally of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Jim and Debbie McAnally of Addison, Texas. Bill had seven grandchildren, Tiffany Stewart, Brandon Stewart, Josh McAnally, Shelby McNeely, Morgan McAnally, Matthew O’Brien, and Shane McAnally. Bill also had one great-grandchild, Liam McAnally.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. There will be a brief graveside service at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Bill McAnally to NorthCare Hospice House, 2900 Clay Edwards Dr., North Kansas City, MO 64116.
