Courtney Ponting Diddle
Courtney Ponting Diddle, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the age of 85.
Courtney was born October 20, 1928 in Chillicothe, Mo., to Gomer and Esther Owens Diddle. Courtney graduated from New York High School, New York Township, Caldwell, County in 1947. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering. Courtney married Nanci Ann Crowther in 1956. They lived in Kansas City, Kans., for 23 years before moving to Bartlesville, Okla.
Courtney returned to the Kansas City area after his beloved Nanci passed away, and spent the rest of his life in the the Kansas City metro area. Courtney was a Chemical Engineer for Phillips Petroleum Company for 32 years prior to his retirement. He was passionate about his granddaughters, flying small aircraft, photography, and his faith, having served his church, Community of Christ, as a bivocational pastor in three different congregations throughout his life (Bethel, Kans., Platte Woods, Mo., and Bartlesville, Okla.).
Courtney is survived by his son, James (Sharon) Liberty, Mo.; granddaughters, Melissa Diddle, Belton, Mo., and Laura Diddle, Kansas City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Community of Christ Church, 1220 W. Liberty Drive, Liberty, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014, also at the church. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Breckengridge, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to Outreach International.
