Clarence W. Schneider Jr.

Clarence W. Schneider Jr., 72, born June 16, 1941 in St. Louis, Mo., died May 2, 2014. His parents were Clarence W. and Eva Mae Schneider. He was raised in Kirkwood, Mo., and attended Kirkwood High School and graduated in 1959. He attended and graduated from William Jewell College in 1963 with a BA degree. He also attended and graduated from CMSU, in 1969 with a MS degree in School Administration. He married Vicki (Griffey) Schneider in June 1968.

Mr. Schneider was a teacher, a wrestling coach and an assistant football coach in Excelsior Springs, Mo., for seven years before becoming an Elementary School Principal at Isley Elementary School, Elkhorn Elementary School, and Westview Elementary School for 25 years.

He also served the School District as the Director of Elementary Education and as the Director of Summer School. He also was the football stadium announcer from 1987-1995 and was the basketball announcer from 1989-1995 for Excelsior Springs Athletics. Following retirement he drove the OMNI Bus for the City of Excelsior Springs for four years and worked at Tri-County Mental Health Center for four years.

He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order at William Jewell College. He was a past member of the Optimist Club and served as President for two years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs and a member of The Excelsior Springs Golf Club. He enjoyed traveling and playing golf.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Michael and his wife, Becky, and by Andrew, and his wife, Sarah, and four grandchildren, all of Liberty, Mo.; a sister, Eva Shrum of St. Louis, Mo.; two nephews and a niece.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at First Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, also at the church. Inurnment will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Mo., at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gregg Williams Foundation.

Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
