Diana Kay Brinegar
Diana Kay Brinegar, 72, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away on August 21, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Diana was born on July 26, 1943 to Clell and Loverna Watson in Kansas City, Mo. She grew up on a rural farm in Holt, Mo., alongside older brother, Dennis, and twin sister, Donna. Diana graduated from Kearney High School in 1961 and went on to attend the Independence College of Cosmetology and Hairdressing. She worked as a hair stylist for several years and later in life she operated an in-home daycare, where she was affectionately known as “nanny” to the many children she cared for over the years.
For the past eight years, Diana has resided at The Oaks Apartments in Excelsior Springs, where she gained many new friendships and enjoyed a healthy social life. Diana will be remembered for her quick wit, strong will, and most importantly, her big heart. Diana will be missed greatly by the many people whose lives she touched.
The most important things to Diana were her faith and her family. Although she faced many hardships throughout her life, Diana’s love of the Lord and faith in His plan never wavered. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life and she cherished every moment spent with them. Diana was blessed with a best friend for life in her twin sister, Donna, who was with her from the beginning of her life to the end. She was the heart and soul of her family and while we are heart-broken at her loss, we take comfort in knowing that she has gone on to her permanent home in Heaven where there is no more pain.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Clell and Loverna Watson, and her brother, Dennis Watson.
She is survived by her sister, Donna Harris (Don) of Excelsior Springs; daughter, Kristy Thatcher of Excelsior Springs; daughter, Lacie Beck (Steve) of Wichita, Kans.; son, Steve Brinegar of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Thomas, Abby and Jordan; niece, Lisa Shelton (Jerry) of Excelsior Springs; nephew, David Harris (Sundee) of Polo; daughter-in-law, Robin Brinegar of Chicago, Ill.; sister-in-law, Jane of Kearney; niece, Terri Godsey (Kerry) of Kearney; niece, DeeAnne Bogar (Shane) of Kearney; and many other friends and loved ones.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
