Donald Edward Haley
Donald Edward Haley, 84, passed away at his home in Kearney on April 20, 2015, with family members by his side.
He was born December 4, 1930 in St. Joseph, Mo., to James Otis and Ethel Mae (Clark) Haley, the forth of six children. In 1942, he moved to Holt, Mo. On September 3, 1950, he married Roberta Ann Hook, also of Holt. They lived in Holt until 1991.
In 1991 he retired from Cook Paint Company after 39 years. He later worked briefly as a courier for Metro North Bank, and machine operator at Midwest Game. One of his greatest joys was helping young people in basketball and Little League Baseball. Donald was also a member of Holt United Methodist Church.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, four sisters, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, and his other “Dad”, Uncle Ed Clark.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta of the home; three children, Janet and Mike McNeil, Terry and Lesa Haley, and David and Betty Sims Haley; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; his other “Mom”, Aunt Ethel Clark; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Mo. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
