Donald H. Hartel
Donald H. Hartel, 94, died April 18, 2015. He was born January 18, 1921 in Clay County, Mo., near the Arley Community. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1939. He married Betty Gwin on November 14, 1943. He worked as a farmer, carpenter, and cabinet-maker. He was a life-long faithful member of the Arley United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Homer Hartel, his sister, Mildred Neth, his brother, Glen Hartel, and his daughter-in-law, Linda Hartel.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; and his seven children, Colleen Kennedy, Lane Hartel, Neil (Melinda) Hartel, Becky (Bill) Babler, Mark (Agnes) Hartel, Jane (Bill) Gardner, and Ruth (Richard) Hubbard; brother, Jim (Delores) Hartel; and his nine grandchildren, Jessica Hartel, Elizabeth Hartel, Steven Babler, Tia Hartel, Darcie, Danae, Dayla, Dee, and Nathaniel Hubbard; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2015 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Arley United Methodist Church, followed by burial at Arley Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions to the Church.
Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
