Dove Ann Rittman
Our loving Dove Ann (Gregory) Rittman of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed
away Monday, December 24, 2012, peacefully at home after a valiant
battle with cancer. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother,
mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born to Mary
Dove (Epperson) Gregory and Frank A. Gregory on January 19, 1939 in St.
Joseph Mo.
She loved spending time with her family and friends. Dove Ann graduated
from Central High School in St. Joseph M0. in 1957 and from St. Luke's
School of Nursing in Kansas City, Mo. in 1960. After marriage, also in
1960, and starting a family, she started her career as a Registered
Nurse in the Medical Department of Hallmark Cards Inc., where she was
known as Nurse Ann for more than 30 years, retiring in January 1999.
She later worked part time for the Clay County Health Department and as
a Shared Solutions Copaxone Injection training nurse. Her faith and
church were important to her from the time she attended First Christian
Church in St. Joseph, Mo., as a child to most recently attending Salem
Christian Union Church in Excelsior Springs, Mo. She loved it when her
children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren would attend with her.
She also loved hearing Pastor Phil Dillon's sermons and singing with
his wife, Patsy Dillon.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother (Granny) Dove Monette
(Sherman) Epperson; her parents; her brother, Robert Howard Gregory;
her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Howe) Gregory and Anne (Hunter) Alberts.
She is survived by her long-time friend and companion, Junior Onwiler;
brother, Larry F. Gregory; daughter, Robin Dove Martin (Scott); son,
Donald Paul Rittman (Denniely); grandchildren, Braden A. Martin, Sarah
C.D. Taylor, Zacc G. Rittman, Anna Gabriella Rittman; great-
grandchildren, Kylee Dixon, Kaden Taylor, Breanna Russell, Bailey
Martin; and niece, Dove Marie Downer.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at
Bross & Spidle Funeral Home. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday,
December 29, 2012, also at the funeral home, with burial following in
St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, Mo. The family suggests
