Dixie Lee Rose
Dixie Lee Rose, 64, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Northcare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Mo. Born on Nov. 19, 1946, in Kirksville, Mo., Dixie was the daughter of Arthur Willis Williams and is survived by her mother, Betty Jo Williams. On June 12, 1969, she married Fred Roger Rose, who also survives. Also surviving are one son, Jason Rose, of Liberty, MO., and his wife, Sylvia Rose; one daughter, Mindy Rose of Mission, Kan.; two grandchildren, Chandler and Elizabeth Rose; and one brother, Greg Williams and his wife, Judy, and their three children, Jackie, Janie and Josh Williams.
Dixie grew up in Gifford, Mo. She was a graduate of LaPlata High School. She was the member of the First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs. All who had the honor to know Dixie were touched by her kindness, spiritedness and genuine love for others. She never knew a stranger. That love was most evident by how she cared for her children and grandchildren. She will be missed, but will always be in our hearts.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs, Mo., with Jonathan Cooney officiating. A second memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at First Baptist Church in LaPlata, Mo., with Elmer McCully officiating. Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
