Donald Lee Short I
Don Short, 84, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Monday, July 25, 2011, at his home. Don was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Independence, Mo., to Jasper and Marion Hansen Short. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a pharmacist who owned Logue-Short and Westowne Pharmacies. Don was a Methodist, loved golf and was the Liberty Hills Country Club golf champion.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Vonnell E. Short; his parents; and Dorothy May Woods Short. Survivors include his son, David W. Short and domestic companion, Samantha P. Burns, Kansas City, Mo.; son, Donald Lee Short II and wife, Lisa Short, Lawson, Mo.; daughter, Gina Elizabeth Short, Fort Collins, Colo.; and grandchildren, Josh and Lauren Short, Jordan Short and fiancee Stephanie Owens, and Jacob Short.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 1, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
